The Academic Program
Although Westfield Day School accepts students in the seventh through twelfth grades, the program is essentially ungraded, permitting greater flexibility for individual educational planning. All traditional courses are offered, including health, art, and
physical education. Elective credits are given in most academic
areas and independent study courses can be arranged for credit on an individual basis.
Westfield is an approved SAT testing site. Students can also be
prepared for New York State Regents examinations held at the
school.
Interim Placement Program
The Westfield Day School offers an intensive program for students who may not be able to remain in their current school placement during the academic year. The Interim Placement Program (IPP) accepts students at any time during the school year for a minimum of
a month until another appropriate school placement is arranged. Students who require a medical leave-of-absence, need mental health or psycho-educational evaluations, or require an extended break from their private or public school, can be considered for admission. Once accepted
in the IPP, these students can convert to regular student
status and finish the academic years credit at The Westfield Day School.
Summer Programs
The summer program functions as an IPP for those students who need to complete their academic requirements for the year, or who need the special support or evaluation services of the The Westfield Day School during the summer months. Those students with learning difficulties, test anxiety or who are just looking for extra help with upcoming SATs or other standardized tests, can benefit from our preparatory classes.
In addition to summer classes, regular one-on-one tutoring services are also available. |
