Administration

Peter M. Schoenholtz, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker, is President of the School and Director. He is administrator of the school and supervises the clinical program, working directly with students and families, and collaborating with other mental health professionals.

Since his Masters degree from Columbia University, h
e has been a licensed clinical social worker in New York and Connecticut for over twenty-five years, specializing in children and adolescents, and their families. In addition to being Director of Westfield, he has a private practice for the evaluation and treatment of mental disorders in patients of all ages. He has also been the consulting director of social work services, as well as a corporate director, at Rye Hospital Center, a psychiatric hospital in Rye, New York.  For many years, he has consulted as a "preferred provider" at a number of exclusive private boarding schools that asked him to work with their students. This expert-level "field" work helped form his knowledge base for the development and creation of The Westfield Day School, in 2000.

Faculty

The consulting and advisory faculty of Westfield consists of licensed professionals in psychiatry, psychology, neuropsychology, substance abuse and addictions, occupational therapy, and art therapy. Specialists in learning disabilities and educational planning and placement are also available to work with students, faculty and families
.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Mrs. Pam Heldman, MS/Ed. has formally accepted the position as Academic Director of The Westfield Day School. She has over thirty years experience as a teacher and leader in alternative education, programming, educational systems and staff development, through which she rose to the position of Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools for the Yonkers Public Schools. Mrs. Heldman brings a high level of commitment, energy and experience to the school and is part of the administrative team that is ushering in a new era at Westfield as she takes over responsibility for the entire academic program that had been under the interim supervision of Mrs. Susan Bauman, MS/Ed over the past year; she remains with us in a new role, as Head Teacher/Learning Specialist.  Mrs. Bauman’s expertise in Special Education will be relied upon as she guides the teaching staff, develops our learning support program and evaluates the special learning needs of all current and prospective students.

Along with Mrs. Tully, Westfield administrative assistant, are: Mrs. Bauman—English; Dr. Lichtine—History; Mrs. Pisarra—English; Mrs. Washco—Spanish, while Drs. Weafer and Friedman continue in Psychotherapy/Counseling.

Mr. Raymond Nelson, MS--Math and Science.  Mr. Nelson worked as a research scientist before switching careers and going into teaching.  With his current transitional certificate for teaching math and physics, he is on track to receive his advanced teaching certificate for secondary education at Pace in May, 2008.

Mrs. Jane O’Sullivan, BA -- English, Global.  Mrs. O’Sullivan has a certificate in teaching High School from Auckland Secondary Teachers College in New Zealand. She has additional coursework in Special Education, and has served on numerous local private and public school boards.
